On 28 and 29 June 2025, Messezentrum Salzburg will once again be the meeting place for gaming fans and developers. The Indie Games Area at FH Salzburg is one of the highlights: Here, everything revolves around new ideas, creative games and direct dialogue with the people behind the games.
Around 40 indie games from students, start-ups from Salzburg and developer studios from Austria and Germany are waiting to be discovered and tried out. The spectrum ranges from action-packed adventures to unusual puzzle games and humorous party games. Of course, the developers will be on site and are looking forward to feedback, questions and exciting conversations.

You can also experience the Indie Games Area online: TaigaPanzer and 2dKiri will be reporting live from the area at the streaming stand. Interviews, game tests and insights into the developer community will be sent directly to the online community.
Hands-on game development
In the EDU area of the Indie Games Area, visitors can try out for themselves how games are created - from game engines and graphical tools to their first attempts at programming. ‘We want to show how exciting the creative and technical side of games development is,’ says Florian Jindra, organiser of the Indie Game Area at FH Salzburg.
Stage for talents
A special highlight is the presentation of the finalists of the PGDA Talent Award, presented by the Association of Austrian Game Developers PGDA (Pioneers of Game Development Austria). The country's best up-and-coming developers will showcase their projects directly in the Indie Games Area. Visitors can try out the nominated games for themselves before the award ceremony takes place on 29 June.
